Installing the dual lnb Satellite

 Hello again!  Today’s topic will be installing a dual LNB  satellite TV dish. First and foremost you must always follow the precise instructions provided to you in your satellite dish package. Exercise all safety issues specified in the manual at all times.  With that out of the way, first view my Youtube video provided on this link. This will give you an idea as to what you need to do. I must drive home one of the most critical issues with an alignment of any dish. You must start out with a perfectly plum pole or you will spend hours trying to align you dish.

CLICK HERE to get them again.  Okay, remember the part where I suggested that you can place a hammer a little distance away from the dish, aiming in the direction you are to point the dish. You can also use a rope tied to the pole and then walk away with the rope in the precise direction the dish will have to point.  
 

Another good tip is replacing the pivoting bolt that attaches to the pole brace with a galvanized bolt.   The new bolt will be thicker than the one that came with the satellite dish, naturally stabilizing the dish for alignment.  Then set your elevation for your area. This trick will pay for itself, trust me.  That is the first thing I do when I install them and I have installed my share of them. 

Now, let’s get to the dual LNBs.  It is not that difficult to do.  The first step is to get the right distance on the LNBs shown on the picture (3/4 in or 22m) 

The next step is to set your rotation (skew).  Your LNBs will set  to negative on the West coast and positive on the East coast.   Here in my town in Idaho the rotation for my Christian satellite TV dish  is -15,so if you’re facing the dish with the LNBs pointing toward you, the LNBs will lean to the right. Now, to acquire your signal on AMC-4 (LNB-1) please find 3abn channel on your receiver. New receivers   3abn has a strong signal and it will make your job easier.   At this point I would also recommend getting yourself a satellite finder. It will make the alignment scan more sensitive as you pass by the transmission signal.    (Purchase a satellite finder)   Keep an eye on the quality.  Level we want to get around 50 to 60.  Once you have a picture on your TV, change your channel on the satellite receiver to the Hope channel.  Hope Channel has a week signal so try to get 50 on your quality bar.  When you tune the weakest channel, you will maximize all the others.  Now that you found your AMC-4 lets disconnect LNB-1 and switch to LNB-2 to make sure that G-25 is tuned in.  Scan for a channel like Daystar and confirm that you have good quality.  That should do it.  One more tip for you:   Use a small self- tapping screw and drive it through the pole bracket and the pole to secure the dish from moving.  Of course you must tighten everything down before you do this.
